Attendance Rules
Define how attendance is recorded and evaluated.
Configure web or mobile check-ins, geo-location, biometric devices, shifts, grace periods, and attendance regularization. Use Attendance for records, marking/uploading attendance, shifts, holidays, geo-tracking, break policy, gate passes, missed punches, and requests.
Configure attendance rules
Set the following rules based on how your organization manages attendance:
- Assign shifts to employees or teams.
- Choose check-in methods such as web or mobile attendance.
- Configure location requirements when employees need to check in from an approved location.
- Set grace periods for late arrivals.
- Configure attendance devices when biometric devices are used.
- Enable regularization so employees can request corrections for missing or inaccurate attendance entries.
Field reference
- Shift: The working hours assigned to an employee or team. A shift determines the expected start and end time used to evaluate attendance.
- Check-in method: The source employees can use to record attendance, such as web or mobile check-in.
- Grace period: The allowed time after the scheduled shift start before an employee is marked late.
- Location requirement: Determines whether an employee must be within an approved location to check in. This can be used for location-based attendance and geofencing.
- Attendance device: A configured biometric or attendance device used to capture employee attendance.
- Regularization: The process employees use to request corrections for missing, incorrect, or incomplete attendance records.
How attendance is evaluated
When an employee checks in or checks out, ZestNexus evaluates the attendance record against the applicable shift and attendance rules.
For example:
- An employee checks in within the configured grace period → the attendance is recorded without a late mark.
- An employee checks in after the grace period → the attendance can be marked as late.
- An employee checks in outside a required location → the check-in can be restricted based on the location rule.
- An employee forgets to check in or check out → they can use attendance regularization if enabled.
Attendance regularization
Attendance records may sometimes be incomplete or incorrect because an employee forgot to check in, forgot to check out, or encountered an issue while recording attendance.
When regularization is enabled, employees can submit a correction request with the required details. The request can then be reviewed according to your organization's approval process.
Attendance rules determine how attendance is recorded and evaluated. Leave, holiday, and other absence policies are configured separately.
